Inside Area

The School is located in a detached two-storey house set back from the road in a leafy location.  It has its own playground and extensive landscaped gardens, which are in use throughout the sessions every day.  It has three downstairs classrooms, a garden room for group activities, a kitchen and toilets.  Upstairs there is a dining room, rest room and office.

The ‘Quiet Room’ houses a well-stocked book corner and a good variety of musical instruments.  It has science equipment and material for the development of pre-reading, writing and number skills.  There are games for auditory and visual discrimination, memory, phonic work, problem solving, logic work, sequencing and patterning.
The School has an extensive range of books, which the children take home through a lending library scheme.

The larger classroom caters mainly for activities which encourage development of large and small manipulative skills, hand and eye co-ordination, art and craft, music, dance, role play, drama and cooking.

The conservatory houses sand, water and malleable play, together with areas to focus on developing language, literacy and numeracy skills.

Outside Area

Animals are an important feature of nursery life, and outside there is a pets’ corner with hens, guinea pigs and a rabbit.  Children are encouraged to help look after the pets.

The playground has a climbing frame, and a wide variety of equipment, such as balancing apparatus, bikes and balls, is used to encourage all aspects of physical development.

There are vegetable beds where children plant seeds, nurture the plants and harvest the produce to use in their cookery activities.  They are encouraged to take an active part in their environment and its conservation.  The school recently achieved the Eco Schools Bronze Award and is now working towards the Silver Award.

The garden includes a play area with a wooden climbing frame, a playhouse, a large sandpit, a stile, a sensory garden and a wild garden.  There is a wide variety of trees, shrubs and flowers, to encourage all forms of wildlife.
